Tucked in the mountains that back up to the Cherokee National Forest, Gentry Creek Inn and Stables boasts a beautiful 100 acres of lush rolling hills – not only for the overnight visitor, but for retired and rescued horses. It’s nestled in the hills with a creek and a lush paradise for the retired equine to roam.

An equine paradise, if you will.

Gentry Creek InnYou’ll know you’ve arrived when over a bridge that spans a clear-water trout stream, there sits the turn-of-the-century six - bedroom Gentry Creek Victorian Inn. Built in 1876, the Inn is smack-dab in the middle of the gorgeous pastures, surrounded by a quaint white picket fence.

Many couples have found this to be a great location for an affordable romantic wedding (or honeymoon!)

Inside you will find 6 charming rooms – each with their own personality. They are spacious and private. The 2 bedroom suite has its own entryway and offers one King and one queen sized Memory Foam Bed, large living room with sofa, TV, VCR, DVD – the works - plus a private bath.

There are several additional rooms available for larger groups.

If you bring your horse, there are plenty of riding opportunities nearby. They can also be trailered to the world-famous Virginia Creeper Trail, or the horse-friendly Mount Rogers State Park. Also within walking distance is Gentry Creek Falls.

Owners Rik and Marilyn Mitchell have been working with horses for many years in the field of sport rehabilitation. They opened up the Inn to help support the rescue and rehabilitation efforts at Gentry Creek.

Not only do the folks at Gentry Creek maintain your retired horse’s well-being, but they will also let you know by regular communication how he’s doing. They’ll even send you photos of your beloved friend every month.

It goes without saying that this bed and breakfast is definitely for the horse-lover. Gentry Creek is dedicated to making sure the horses - as well as their human guests – are well taken care of.
